Discuss an Advisory Engagement
Where Thornton can help
Strategic direction. Clarify the central questions, examine options, and connect priorities to mission and resources.
Governance. Consider board and executive responsibilities, relationships, and the decisions that shape institutional direction.
Stakeholder alignment. Understand competing perspectives, identify common purpose, and build commitment around a path forward.
Organizational change. Frame the challenge, communicate direction, and consider the conditions needed to move from discussion to action.
Perspective grounded in practice
Thornton currently serves as President and CEO of the South Carolina Hospital Association, a role he began in January 2005. His earlier experience in healthcare law, hospital leadership, and higher education broadens the perspective he brings to advisory conversations.
His guiding observation: the most important leadership challenges rarely yield to authority alone. Progress depends on trust, influence, and shared purpose.
